Import existing song lyrics

Bring supported song XML or ZIP archives into an editable service rundown.

Follow along in Desktop. Recorded in the product with illustrative content. Use the player controls to pause, replay or view full screen. Captions describe the on-screen actions.

Before you start

Keep a backup of the original library and confirm you have permission to use the lyrics.

Prepare supported files

Export your songs from their original application in a supported XML format or song archive. Keep the song title, verse order and required attribution with the export. Do not assume a complete database file is the same as a supported song export.

Choose the import control

Open Service files. Use Import for supported song XML files, or Import song ZIP for an OpenSong or OpenLP archive. Select the files and allow the app to inspect their contents.

Read the migration report

Review the imported slide preview and any migration warnings. Check verse order, repeated choruses, line breaks and copyright information against the original. Download the migration report if you need to keep track of items that require manual attention.

Use the imported service

Choose Use imported service after reviewing it. This replaces the currently open rundown, so export any service you need to preserve first. Preview the lyric slides, correct any text and rehearse the song order before projecting it.

If you need a hand

If a file is rejected, inspect its format and export it again from the source application. Do not remove attribution or assume a successful import grants a licence to use the song.
